KANBANDO / HANDBOOK

Get unstuck

Start with the symptom, then make one small check at a time.

AI connection problems#

“Could not start. Port 49732 may be in use.”
Quit other running KanbanDo builds or another server using that port, then choose Retry connection. Only one local listener can use the fixed port.
“Cannot reach KanbanDo.”
Open the Mac app, enable AI access, and wait for Ready for your AI. Wake the Mac. A stdio bridge does not launch the GUI.
“Connection key changed” or HTTP 401
Copy a fresh connection prompt/configuration from the running app and replace the client’s kanbando entry. Do not post the key in a support request.
Tools are missing
Check that the selected client matches the route, restart/reload it, and enable its MCP tools. Pasting a prompt into a chat without settings access is not sufficient.
Read works but edits fail
Enable Allow my AI to make changes only if you want write access. Check the project’s edit permissions. A viewer cannot write.
“This task changed.”
Have the agent read get_task again and use the latest revision. Check whether the newer content changes your intended action.
The app moved or was replaced
Generate fresh configuration so command points to the current app executable.
Setup refuses my settings file
Use Manual setup. The merge helper deliberately leaves unsupported custom or malformed settings intact. Preserve a backup and use your client’s own editor.
Cloud chat cannot connect to localhost
Use the documented desktop route or arrange a separately authenticated remote connection. No local prompt can make a cloud service reach 127.0.0.1.

Tasks are missing on another device#

  1. Confirm the task belongs to an iCloud project. Inbox, device-only projects, and local-only images do not sync.
  2. Check the Apple Account and iCloud access on both devices. Check available iCloud storage and network access.
  3. Open KanbanDo on both devices. Use Retry sync if offered.
  4. Inspect Settings for conflicts, account-change confirmation, or a sync error.
  5. Export a sync report if the problem persists. Do not reset the app as the first troubleshooting step.

An invitation or edit does not work#

Check that the project is stored in iCloud, the owner’s share is still active, and the recipient is using the intended Apple Account. Open the invitation on a device with KanbanDo installed. Viewer access does not permit edits. Assignment is not an invitation.

Images or widgets are out of date#

For an image, check whether it is marked This device only, whether an upload is pending, and whether Retry upload is available. For a widget, open Settings → Task widgets, confirm the list is enabled, then edit the widget’s chosen list. The system controls refresh timing; compare with the app before assuming a save failed.

Restore Unlimited Projects#

Use the restore-purchase control in the app’s purchase/settings flow while signed into the Apple Account that made the purchase. Apple controls transaction status and local pricing. If restoration fails, include the error and app version in your support request; do not send payment details.

Capacity and limits#

Unlimited Projects removes the one-owned-project allowance, not all technical capacity limits. Current app limits include 100 projects, 1,000 tasks, 100 project memberships, 20 columns per project, 50 subtasks per task, 20 images per task, 200 images per project, and 100 MB of attachment content. Apple’s iCloud storage and sharing limits also apply.

Ask for help#

Email scigala+ancap@gmail.com. Include your device, OS, app version, steps to reproduce, expected result, actual result, and sync report code if relevant. Leave private task content and connection keys out. If using TestFlight, use its Send Beta Feedback flow with the copied diagnostics summary.
